NOTICE: NEW POLICY, effective September 2005
Please continue to put your e-mail address in the guestbook entry, it is still required.
Computer programs have been written that will search a web site, such as ours, and gather e-mail address from the site and use them to send out spam type e-mails. As a result, the webmaster will no longer post e-mail address in the guestbook entries. However, he will keep the e-mail addresses you submit on file. If a classmate or friend sees your guestbook post and wants to send you an e-mail, they can request your e-mail from the webmaster at.... and the webmaster will send them your e-mail address on an individual basis. Just a reminder, the way our web-host company has things set up, the Guestbook only works with Internet Explorer.
If you would like to place a note on this site, please fill in the boxes
below. Name, address and e-mail are required for submission, but
if you would like your personal information such as your address or e-mail
left off the guestbook, place a check mark in the "anonymous?" box.
The way this guestbook is set up, a personal e-mail account is required
on the computer you are working on. For example, it may not work
for you if you use a computer at a school or public library.
Submissions will not be immediately seen on the Forman website, but
I will try to post them as soon as I can. Of course, no objectionable
material will be posted. (I guess I have editorial control!)
Thanks for trying the guestbook, and e-mail me at the following address
if you have any questions or problems e-mail to

January 2,2008,Hello, I am a Forman and would love to know more about your town and the history of its founder. I see in an earlier posting by Lorraine Peter that she has Cournelius' history in a document and will email it. I would enjoy reading that, please pass along my email to her. PASSED ALONG. Your town seems delightful and I hope to visit someday soon.

May 31,2007,Over the past years I have been the member of my family to track down our heritage. My family has a rich history. We have a line of Fargo's who are related to the Wells Fargo Bank. My grandmother was a member of the DAR and we have had family in most of the wars. However, my line for the Forman family is short. My great-great-great grandfather was born in Progue, Czechclovakia. If one has more information or would like a surmane index of who has come into my family please contact me. REQUEST PASSED ALONG TO THE SARGENT COUNTY MUSEUM BOARD.

October 26,2006,Hello I am looking for information someone might have about my grandfathers family. His name was George Merchant. I hardly know anything about him as he died before I was born. What I do know is that he was from (or lived) in Forman and married my grandmother who was a rural school teacher across the border in SD. They moved to Southern California and had a lemon grove there in the late 30's and early 40's. They raised a large family and had many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. My husband and I recently left California and moved to Rugby. I suppose ND was in my blood. Thank you Suzanne Johnson. WEBMASTER NOTE: request passed along to Sargent County Museum Board who found a small bit of information.

April 2,2006,I worked at the Farmers Union Oil Co of Forman 1963-1967. I worked with Russel Lewis, Norbert Kulzer, Dean Brakke, and Ken Mogck was the manager. We were married in 1965 and lived above the hardware store in one apartment and Jackie and Harley Fink lived in the other one. I have lots of memories of Forman. Larry and LeRoy Nelson were my best buddies. Send an e-mail if you remember me. I would love to hear form you. Arden Brody.

Jan 27,2006,I am very proud of my Forman heritage. I am suprised by all the people on your web page related to the founder. I know I am related. My mother is Julie Downing, her mother was Joan Forman, her brother was William Chandler Forman, her mother was Marie Forman-married to William Chandler Forman. I know a little about the town and the rock that was dedicated to my family. Although I don't live in Forman I am very sentimental towards the town my family built. I have seen my family tree and on the version I have seen there were none of the names featured in your guestbook. I am just wondering if those related to the founder of Forman could contact me so I can get more information about my family. I gave my e-mail address to the webmaster so it is available. Thank you.

Jan 7,2006,I found your website via a search for more information on my relative, Annis Skimore Brown, and was delighted to find that the city of Forman was founded by her son Cornelius. Sept 01,2005,Hello to all. My sister and I will be visiting Forman Sept 29-30. Our mother Betty Jane Groettum was born in Forman. Her parents, Richard Alvin Groettum and Freda Christoffer were also born in the area and married there before coming to Minnesota in 1922 or so. I would be interested in hearing from anyone who knew members of the Chrisoffer, Groettum and Brandt families. Some other family names are John Christoffer, James and Anne Brandt, Boyd Groettum, Fred and Alice (Groettum) Presley, and Leonard Groettum. We are also distantly related to Holens who lived or are still living in the area.

March 16, 2004,My brother, Bill, alerted me to this website when he stopped by for a visit last week. I grew up and attended school in Forman,
graduating in 1959. After graduating, I attended VCSC and married Dr. Jim Kerner, an optometrist. We later moved to Grafton where he had a practice. He passed away 4 1/2 years ago. I work at the Catholic Church here: Dre, teach Scripture, do bereavement, do outreach ministry and am Catholic Ministries Coordinator at the State Development Center. I would enjoy hearing from anyone who went to school during the time that I was there.

Jan 20, 2004,I have happy memories of our several visits to Forman. I'm Faunce Dewey's husband. We first visited Forman together in 1965
for Christmas. We had a great time , but this native Californian nearly froze to death. But I got to meet Charlie and Vivian Dewey. Charlie was the most honest and upright person I have ever met. Our first born is his namesake: Charles Dewey Rand, born 07-04-64. I have often said that if I were Charlie's son, I would have
becone a farmer. We are looking forward to the reunion this summer, we'll be there with bells on. I look forward to meeting all the contributors to the Forman Guest book. Faunce and I are both retired; she from nursing and I from lawyering. We've never been happier than now. Please note our ISP has changed, we have a new e-mail address.
Jan 10,2004, I thoroughly enjoyed visiting your site. For those interested in the founder..here is where
he got his name. I am primarily a HAGERMAN researcher. Cornelius Hagerman, son of John Hagerman (UE) married Elizabeth Forman, daughter of James Foreman/Forman(UE) and Abigail Conklin. Elizabeth Forman's brother was James Forman who married Annis Skidmore Brown. Their son Cornelius Hagerman Forman founded Forman, ND. Both the Hagerman and Forman ancestors were in New Brunswick, Canada at the close of the American Revolution, and both were United Empire Loyalists (hence the UE designation). John Hagerman (UE), father of Cornelius Hagerman came from Dutches County NY and the surname was previously known as Hegeman (whose progenitor Adriaen Hegeman came from the Netherlands to Long Island NY about 1653. As I am not a descendent of a Forman, I haven't closely followed the surname Forman, other than to note that James Forman was Cornelius Hagerman Forman's father--Cornelius Hagerman Forman's mother was Annis Skidmore Brown and they were married April 8, 1819 in New Brunswick Canada. James Forman's father was also a James Forman/Foreman (UE) who married Abigail Conklin. From my notes it indicates that James Foreman/Forman (UE) came from Peeksill NY prior to the Revolution, but that is something that I didn't personally research..(fact or fiction?)
Dec 11, I ran across this site while searching for Forman geneology. I was
not aware there was a Forman, ND. However, it looks like a wonderful place to visit.
I really like your website.
I grew up in Forman from ages 3 to 10 when we moved west
to Oregon. I still remember walking to the store in the snow with
our Lab pulling the sled while my twin sister Alice walked along side.
I miss the close knit feeling we had with the other town people.
In all the places I have lived I have never found that feeling again.
I wish you all the best in the future and I hope that I will have the opportunity
to visit soon. I would like to talk to anyone who would have graduated in 1989, who lived in Forman
during the late 70's and early 80's.
I just found your website tonight. I lived in Forman from
1973 to 1982. My family name is Bowden (Carl and Judith). I have so many
fond memories of living in Forman. My family is planning a family reunion
in July of 2004 and I am going to visit Forman as part of our trip. I am
so excited for my daughters to see the house I grew up in and to see the
changes in the town. I don't know if anyone I grew up with still lives
there. I would love to hear from anyone who remembers me or my family.
************ I enjoyed the article in the Sunday FARGO FORUM. My parents
grew up in Cayuga and I have many relatives on both the Brickzin and Haring
sides of my family in this region of the state!
Hi -
The cafe being open again was another treat! From the
crowd there at meal times, I would say that it is sure something the community
supports.
We also were impressed with the nice supper club in Oakes
- the food was great and very generous in portion. I don't remember the
name of the place, but I understood the prior location burned down and
Keep up the good work, Forman! We look forward to our
next visit.
I truly enjoy your sight on the web . I wish that
you were open in the museum also, in the mornings. I travel to Britton
, quite often during the summer months to visit relatives.
I would enjoy getting e-mail from anyone that I grew up with in Forman
and Cayuga. Also any of the students or teachers that I knew in the six
years that I taught in Forman(1 year) and Cogswell(5 years). I've
been retired for four years and enjoy reading about Sargent County events
in the Teller.

************ An alumni register is brought up at almost every encounter
of FHS graduates. A listing by year would be a great addition to

the son of Seth C. Forman & Clara (Orth) Forman. I graduated
from high school there in 1939, left there in 1941 for west coast Seattle,
WA. Visited back there in 1984 for the centennial celebration. Would
like to hear from anyone who remembers me. This is a great web site that
was put together. Thanks who ever you are. Great to hear and see so many
good changes. Reelected Bob Cookson the mayor is doing a good job.

When you surf and are looking at the family tree you don't
know what you might find. Your Alumni Reunion list shows a Jerome Josewski.
Perhaps someone could ask him to E-mail me as we may be cousins. Was he
named for his Uncle Jerome? Can he tell me his great grandmother's name
from his mother's side? If she came from Birdsmoorgate in Dorset we could
be up and running!
Hello everyone. I would love to hear from old friends

Very nice presentation, very enjoyable. Hope to

Nice to see small towns have web
pages. It appears this is the place to ask for additions to the website.
I'd like to see an Alumni section under the Sargent Central School link.
It would be interesting to see where our classmates will be coming from,
prior to the All-School reunion in July, 2002.

************ Hello, Col. Forman was my
great, great grandfather. My father's name was Ray Forman.
I was in Forman in 1984 for the town centennial so am glad to see it is
thriving and growing. Just discovered the town is on the internet.
Interesting website which I just
discovered. I've never heard of Forman, ND but would love to learn
more about how it was named. Is your goal to enter a 'Forman' surname
depository for all to use?
I've been searching my FORMAN family
for 30+ years starting in Tompkins County (Ithaca) New York. I'm
searching for the parents or descendents of three siblings all born there:
CHARLOTTE FORMAN (born 1815), DAVID SMITH FORMAN (born 1818) and WILLIAM
HENRY FORMAN (born 1822).
David and his brother William received
part of their early education in Ithaca and part in and around New Orleans,
LA. They both became professional Tailors and opened their own shop
in Columbus, Ohio which was operational throughout the 1840's. David
Smith Forman moved to Missouri and William Henry Forman moved to Keokuk,
Iowa. Their sister Charlotte Forman married Jonas WHITNEY of New
Hampshire and they moved around the State of New York, Illinois and ultimately
settled in Jefferson County Missouri and St. Louis prior to their deaths.
Any information greatly appreciated.
Would love to email anyone with
information on these families. I have much more data available on
their respective children and their families.
My Grandfather was Harry Forman
and Mother was Una Belle Forman Bentson. Col. Forman was my great-grandfather.
I was born in my grandfather's home in Forman, and we lived in Rutland.
George Bentson was my step-dad. My sisters include Margaret, May,
Emma Jean (all deceased). One sister Georgia Bentson Rogers living.
If anyone would like to contact me I would like to hear from you.

Just wanted to say how impressed we were with our stay
at the Forman Inn & Suites this past Memorial Day weekend. We stayed
there last year also and were afraid that some of the "newness" would have

the they exhibited during the first year. The room decor still is just
as nice as new, and the place is very neat and tidy.
